On the afternoon of 15 March, the delegation of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, headed by Municipal Party Committee Secretary Dinh La Thang, had a meeting in Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City. Together with the delegation was the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City's Chairman Phong T. Nguyen, the Director of Department of Information and Communications Hy T. Le, the Vice Director of DOST Phung K. Nguyen and representatives of several departments, committee and sectors of the city.

Speaking at the meeting, Municipal Party Committee Secretary Dinh La Thang also specifically emphasized the policy of connecting closely with businesses in the province to commercialize research output, especially in the field of science and technology, high technology, as well as being much more active in coordinating with other departments, committee and sectors of the city to improve and use efficiently human resources and units' facilities.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City's Chairman Phong T. Nguyen also recommended that the training of human resources and developing intellectual labour at VNU HCMC need to associate with economic development demand of the city in particular and the country in general, in which the research topics must have contribution to the overall development of the city.
